Meditation with Linda Classes will not be held as Linda Tuyn travels to meet her new granddaughter. We will notify Bayside residents when sessions resume. -- Linda is a retired nurse practioner who has been practicing and teaching meditation for over 40 years. She studied many different approaches, including mindfulness, zen, and lovingkindness meditation so she now presents an eclectic style designed to promote relaxation and well-being. She has primarily taught patients and nursing students over the years and is thrilled to share it with anyone who is interested.

Early Azaleas
a poem about Spring by Diane Colvin Reitz

The old azaleas in
the deepest south;
the mammoth bushes
surrounding ancient
oak trees, abandoned
houses, long forgotten.
The azaleas don’t speak
the same language as
they’ve been left alone
long ago. They listen and
know when the time for
warmer southern days cues
the magenta to blossom.
For years they have been
rarely trimmed, keeping
their portly shapes, the
petals popping in between
a cacophony of dark green.
Then, a dark lilac cranberry
color appears on what
appears to be dead limbs.
The redbud, one of the first
to bloom in a southern clime,
leaving the gray of winter.
New budding will soon be
evolving from tree limbs
as tiny lime green, breaks
the brown surface of ground.
Spring follows in a sweet
breeze that carries the sun
along waves of high trees, a
bird turns to catch the light.
